Vintage NEW late 1970s-1980s， 4X Beaver， BIG Black Cattleman’s cowboy hat， with dad’s custom Shovel Brim. This hat must have been mis-tagged originally because it’s initially measured to a 7-1/8+. This hat has been stretched by dad and grandson (we know the tag states 7 Long Oval， read below) to a 7-1/8++ and is so close to a perfect 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. It could easily be stretched to a perfect 7-1/4 easily. See pictures， we didn’t hide anything on the excellent hat!Very nice wide 4 inch brim too!This was manufactured by BEAVER HATS and sold by Dallas Western Wear， Lubbock， Texas. We believe that that store was sold to Wild Bill’s Western Store but we aren’t 100% certain? This is a jet black color! With a black string hat band.This is one of my sons hats， not one of dads. Bought and shipped in that heavy duty original Beaver Hats box. He believes this was ordered and shipped in either the very late 1970s or the early 1980s? It’s been a long time and there was no paperwork inside the box.This is another company that contacted out from Beaver Hats to be manufactured for their store. This contracting of hats has been done since the very early 1900s. Stetson， Resistol and so many more hat makers would agree to make hats and label them for these smaller companies. But this one actually used the Beaver Hats boxes and not any custom hat boxes that others would have manufactured， this was a smaller company so they just contracted out the hats， not custom hat boxes. This box is very sturdy (with the original hat holding insert) and was also used as a shipping box. The box has a couple of shipping postage tags on it as you can see. That tall 5.7 inches crown (tallest point) is perfect and something everyone will admire! The is the OLDER 4X Beaver! Not the newer extremely stiffer one that’s sold today! The hat is semi pliable. Steam really softens it up if you wanted to reshape it. This is so easily steamed and shaped if someone ever wanted to reshape it into a TALL cattleman's shape. NOTE that shipping outside the continental USA is WITHOUT the hat box. It’s just to big and expensive. If you need more help please write to us and we maybe able to add the box but we will need to change the dimensions and weight before you buy it.This is a BIG hat box and will require a very large box to ship in! If you don’t want the hat box shipping is $20.10 but you must write to us and let us know. We will refund the difference after purchase. We ALWAYS recommend having a hat box! It’s the only way to keep a hat in PRISTINE condition and NOT let MOTHS aged to it!Ok now the particulars. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size， tagged or not tagged. This hat has a size tag 7 but this has been stretched to a 7-1/8++ and could easily be stretched to a perfect 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches.
